Insurance Claims: People's General Insurance Company

Most new car users’ problem or not really a problem but challenging experience is backing out a car. It was a sudden moment when you hear a ‘bump’ sound and found out your car already made out with a post.
Yup! Did happen to me. Mimi was trying to ‘assist’ me when it happened though making it more surreal that it will happen.

Mimi and myself wanted to try out this hole-in-the-wall burger joint which led me driving to a very narrow street with not much parking space. I slowly back up the car and next thing I know my back bumper kissed a corner post that lead us contacting our insurance company. One great thing about having an insurance is that you have that serene feeling that whatever happens to you and your car you are covered and this I hope to happen.

I know there’s a lot of negative reviews on People’s General Insurance Company but this was the in house insurance of our car, so not much choice until April of 2016.

So, just to share with everyone the claim process for ‘Own Damage’ which we are covered for about Php 7,500+, I will itemized the requirements asked from us and also the timeline until the car gets entirely fixed, so this post will be updated from time to time;

January 04, 2015 – Contacted Insurance Company spoke to “Irene” who was very helpful in providing us the Insurance Inspector’s schedule, which is every Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 9am and 12pm. Following requirements to bring along before processing the claim:
  • Policy
  • OR/CR
  • Driver’s License
  • Notarized Affidavit of Incident
Upon checking some Notary Public near our area it will cost you about Php 250 and Php 150 if you have your own document, in our case, Mimi decided to get a copy of Own Damage Affidavit from http://www.livinginthephilippines.com/2012-12-03-02-43-50/philippines-legal-form/192-form-no1-affidavit-of-damage-to-vehicle-hitting-a-post-while-backing and used it as a baseline in providing detailed information of what had happened

Well, this is as far as what I can post as we just completed the requirements and will go back to the Notary Public near our place to have it sealed and will update everyone from there.

…… will continue on…. Happy 2016! From Mimi and Dada!
